Tandav, the new web series on Amazon Prime, is a political drama that concentrates on power struggles after the country’s prime minister dies after an election. There are many contenders for the country’s top position as there was no clear succession plan. As the central theme is succession, the plot might remind you of Lucifer, a Malayalam movie streaming on the same platform. Please stop there; the comparison is futile and underserving. Ali Abbas Zafar directs this web series, and he is known for the massive hits for Salman Khan. In my personal opinion, Ali had a lackluster start, a great trajectory, and what could have been a freefall when he tried adapting the Korean movie for Salman Khan. This web series shows that Ali has bounced back. Overall, Ali has not spawned an intelligent drama, but he has given us a watchable product, especially in the content famine induced by the lockdown.

First, I will tell you the drawbacks. With the streaming platforms, an ordinary entertainment loving person gets the best of the products from around the world. Ali’s Tandav is predictable. While it brings some notable names from the entertainment world, we miss the twists and turns associated with an excellent political drama. Lack of scheming characters acts against Ali’s ambitions.
