Fascinating article, Nathan! As an observer of American culture, three aspects particularly stood out to me: tipping, giant portion sizes, and the drive-thru culture.

Tipping, especially in times of rising inflation, is a hot topic. While some might see it as an added financial burden, I understand its importance in the context of the American service industry. It contributes to the general well-being of society by supporting service workers. So, despite the economic challenges, I appreciate the intent behind this practice and am willing to support it.

The giant portion sizes in American restaurants are something else! I often find them overwhelming. While the 'doggy bag' option exists for leftovers, I'm not a fan of carrying food home – the taste just never seems the same the next day. I've always wondered why there isn't a more widespread option to order half portions. Not the kind where you split a full portion with someone else, but a genuine half-sized serving for one. This would be a great solution for those of us who find the standard sizes too much but still want to enjoy the full dining experience.

Lastly, the drive-thru culture is something uniquely American that I find incredibly interesting. The convenience and efficiency it offers are unparalleled, particularly in today's fast-paced world.
